Sandy Afternoon Update

Lake Michigan still looks pretty much as it does in the post directly below, from this morning, here at my vantage point.

However, other people around here, and in Chicago, have found some great wave action.

Backblogging: The non-calm before the non-storm

I was out for a walk around 7pm on June 30th, and noticed that the sky looked weird and the Lake was roiling. I even took a video to try out my new phone video feature:

As you can tell, it was NOISY and wavy. And then, about 90 minutes later, this.

Lucked Out

Haziness has given way to choppiness (which, over the weekend, has become full-blown storminess). (Note seagulls in lower right, just below the 05.) From Friday, 5/13/11.

More Winter

Speckled

Those white spots are white caps. From Sunday, 5/16/10.

Fierce

I did not manage to get a good shot of the waves, but they were something today. Strong and LOUD. Missed yesterday, which was pretty with shades of blue and green running through the water. Sigh. Things will lighten up soon, I hope, both on the water and in life.

In the Navy

That is a deep blue stripe there along the horizon.

It's Spring!
The para-sailors are out in full force, enjoying a spectacular sky and blue-green Lake.

Frothy Chocolate

The awesomeness of the waves cannot be fully captured by pictures, but it sure does resemble a big frothy cup of cocoa or latte. Except noisy. Love the blue stripe on the horizon, too.

Roaring Dawn

Loud and wavy out there today. But the light was soft at 7:30am.
