Snared

The clouds look they are trying to dive into the Lake, but something has caught them before they can take the plunge. Also, lake freighter in center top photo. From 5/30/12.

Dark Shadows

Scary. From 5/21/12.

Ominous

Dull Finish

The final day in April is overcast and calm. 4/30/12.

Real Meets Surreal

The brownish-gray water looks like a photo, while the sky looks like a watercolor. From 4/22/12.

Fierce

I know. The ocean-dwellers scoff at the notion that this is fierce, but it was very windy and wavy all day on this day. For a lake, anyway. From 4/20/12.

Occasional

Okay, so maybe I should the masthead from "...plus a daily photo of the Lake" to "...plus an occasional photo of the Lake." I mean to post every day, I do, but life sometimes gets in the way. So here is an occasional from April 10. Late, but still beautiful.

Foreboding

A storm brewing out on the Lake never really made it to shore, but the effect was still quite sinister. From 3/27/12.

Cloud Swells

Look down, you see ducks.  Look up, and note the waves in the clouds. From 2/14/12.

Light Sublime

Reflected on the slight waves, shining bright on the horizon. This was one of those mornings when I rounded the corner for my first view of the Lake and had to gasp. From 2/13/12.

Horizon Light

Roiling waters up close give way to sweet light on the horizon, beyond the clouds. From 2/07/12.

Understated

They can't all be show-offs. From 1/25/12.

Extra Wonders

Nothing to say here.
And this is best enjoyed by clicking through to make it larger.  Those ice islands are brilliant on that steel blue water. From 1/24/12.

Iced Donuts

See those little islands out there?  They are like these, only sparser. We had our first substantial snowfall of the winter, about 6 inches (and it's January 23rd!)
When they get to shore, they pile up in these giant banks.
Bank + ice rounds. From 1/23/12.

Relief Map

I fell like this is a view of a relief map of a low range of craggy, rocky hills.  Only blue and gray instead of the browns and golds and greens you'd find in a real relief map. From 1/19/12.

Pushing

It looks to me like to clouds are trying to push the building back. From 12/20/11. (And with this I am caught up with my daily pics for now!)

Framed

Slightly different vantage point. From 12/19/11.
