The Tree Stands Alone

This tree appears in lots of photos on this site, but I don't think I've ever put it in the center of the frame before. The Lake looks hazy, because, in an almost unfathomable function of meteorology, we are experiencing a smoke plume from a forest fire in Minnesota. Yes, hundreds of miles from Lake Michigan. It smells terrible. I hope things go well for those fighting the fire. From Tuesday, 9/13/11.

Sparkling Gifts

It was a breezy, sunny, beautiful day on Sunday, 5/22/11.

Pea Soup

Not quite that thick, but we have some fog-mist action going on. The air is warming up, but the Lake lags behind. From Tuesday, 5/10/11.

Foggy Bottom

There was a fog warning popping up on my computer all day, and what do you know? It did eventually get foggy. These were taken about 4:30.
You can tell it is foggy.
But now it is foggy like out-of-a-movie-set-can't-see-across-the-street-the-zombies-are-coming-to-get-us foggy. Seriously. Foghorns are sounding in the harbor.

Glad I don't have to drive tonight. Take care if you do.

A Whiter Shade of Pale

This title has been in the hopper for a few weeks, because this view fades in and out every few days, but I never managed to get a photo of it until today.

Smudge

I know there's a better synonym for this, but I can't find one. The sky is amazing. It's very windy, and the clouds were moving.

Ghostly

In the morning.
And in the evening. In both, you can't tell the Lake from the sky. From Wed. 3/24/10.

Thin layer of frosting

There was a thin layer of light color between the Lake and the sky. It was more dramatic in real life than this picture can show. From Tuesday, 5/19.
