Always Look on the Bright Side

My flight was fogged in on Thursday, which meant the Friday morning flight was very early. Lucky me!
A much more industrial sunrise than I am used to on Lake Michigan.
But so colorful.
Farewell Toronto, Queen City of Lake Ontario! From 4/8/11.

Though thou the waters warp...

In honor of Shakespeare's birthday:Blow, blow, thou winter wind,
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing heigh-ho!
unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning,
most loving mere folly:
Then, heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,
That dost not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As friend remember'd not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho!

Great Book Gift

Late blogging this, but I got a great Christmas gift that is Great Lakes-related and probably of interest to readers of this blog. The book above, which I have yet to read, is about the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy. I’m putting it on my list for summer reading. Not really escapist literature, but of interest to the Lake Michigan/Great Lakes obsessed.

I received this as part of our family used book exchange, described here.

Oh, the Weather Outside is Frightful....

Seriously, it is NASTY out there today. Here on the western shore we get very little lake effect snow, but we're getting some today--big wet flakes. I guess I'd need a faster camera to capture the horizontal snowfall.
