This is the beach near our house. In years past, we are told, that big puddle was a little more full, and created a "basin" in which young children could frolic while their parents watched from beach chairs. Since we have lived here (2.5 years) the basin has been empty, leaving a vast, dry beach.

Last Friday, the waves were high enough and steady enough to fill the basin. Too cold for swimming, though.
