Blue-brown

This picture only captures it partially, but the lake is a strange shade of muddy brown with a blue tinge on the horizon. It reminds me of a frozen puddle. A BIG one.

Perspective

These four images were all taken from the same building within five minutes of each other. Amazing, isn't it? Making up for two days of missed posts. And a bonus shot, too.

Not gone!

Not forgotten either. But the title of my last post and the two-day absence of pictures might have made someone think I was no longer blogging. No, I am merely sick, and struggling to keep up with daily life. Perhaps this afternoon I will have time for some make-up posts.

Liquid Dunes

The lake is roiling and churning and very loud today. The impression is of a desert with rippling sand dunes, very brown and smooth (except where there are waves).

I like the stripe effect here, caused not by something in the water, but by the clouds overhead.

Big Sky

It's so hard to be confronted with such abundant beauty at close range. Everytime I looked up this afternoon I saw a better sky, lake color, contrast, cloud pattern, light effect, etc. Finally I just had to post one and call it a day.

It's all about the sky today, topping a smooth blue Lake with froth and swirls. Call it a sky latte (and call me an elitist for that reference!).

This is a day late in posting, but the picture was taken yesterday. Fall is here.

Afternoon Shadows

Busy day, so this lake pic features shadows on the water from the nearby trees, something that only happens in the afternoon here on the western shore. A nice effect, I think. And just for the record, all of the pics featured (so far) have been taken from inside my office, or from other windows within the same building, or from just outside of this building. All these lovely views within steps of my daily existence; as my 4-year-old might put it, An't I lucky?

October Paradise

This is how things look this morning on the Lake. The speedboater is taking advantage of the last warm days of fall. Ahhh...life is good, even if you are just observing.

Smooth Sailing

This picture is a little out of focus, but it shows how calm and smooth the Lake is today. Earlier, there were clouds, but now it is clear and crisp. Wish I could be out on that sailboat right now...

Wavy gravy

It's very hard to capture in a photo the turmoil in the water this morning. I'd have to go out for a walk to get some good wave pictures, and I don't have time to do that. But you can see the murky brownish color that includes sediment stirred up from the lakebed. Hence the title "Wavy Gravy" 'cause that's what it looks like out my window this morning.

Surf's up!

I should probably save that label for sometime when there are actual surfers out there, or when I get a more dramatic picture, but today was one of those days when I opened up the front door to get the newspaper, and I could HEAR the surf from my house. My house is only 3 blocks from the Lake, but still. If the waves get bigger throughout the day, I'll add a bonus pic.

Stormy Weather...

Not really stormy, just raining, but Stormy Weather captures the mood better than Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head. Was out of the office on Friday, so here's a bonus on a Sunday afternoon...

Celestial Bliss

The sky was so intensely beautiful this morning it was hard to choose a picture. The water, trying not to steal the show, was calm and blue.
